We would like to express our thanks to Alex and his colleagues at Peter Smith and Son for the considerate and dignified manner in which they conducted our father's funeral and burial.
- family of Barry Leslie Taylor
Dad and I are so very grateful to you for turning what we’d dreaded to be a really harrowing experience into one that was so very personal, effortless and full of kindness and compassion, and with always a charming twinkle in your eye. We felt we were in very safe hands from the first moment, and that turned out to be exactly the case.
We just wanted to say a big Thank you to you for everything you have done in the whole process of making sure Dad got a good send off. Everything was perfect, we were very happy with how everything went and we felt like he was in safe hands from when you collected him from the JR. Whenever we came in or made contact every member of the team was really helpful and reassuring.
Peter Smith and Sons have been brilliant with supporting our family with the loss of our mother Gloria Armsby. There care, compassion and empathy were exceptional. Sean in particular supported both my sister and myself through a difficult period. We have no hesitation in recommending them.
Thank you so much to you and your team for yesterday. Everything went so smoothly and we are so grateful.
Alex, one of our friends who came, a funeral director for many years (out of this area), has asked me to let you know how impressed he was with your professionalism and and conduction of the service and wishes you all the best for your future career.
It is difficult when your partner has a terminal illness. I felt it was important to be prepared for death in advance. I do not recall the few Funeral Directors I visited, but I immediately felt comfortable when I had a chat with Peter Smith and Son. I appreciated their attitude and friendly guidance. That was in November 2024. I was happy to have the Care Home list Peter Smith and Son as my preferred Funeral Directors.
My wife passed away on the 16th April 2026.
Within a few days I met Alex Taylor a Trainee Funeral Director. I immediately felt comfortable talking with him. I had ideas, but really knew nothing about funerals and the procedures involved. He talked me through different scenarios and I reappraised my thoughts and decisions.
A date was decided upon, which enabled my sister and her husband from
Australia, to include the farewell to Patricia at the end of their European travels. They were already coming to Witney as they had each summer for the last few years. This year the circumstances were different.
Alex introduced me to a Celebrant, Nicola Wilson. Nic did a wonderful job pulling together all the strands from what I told her and comments from my initial Facebook announcement into a wonderful service and Eulogy.
We talked about music, a song to sing, appropriate poems, tributes from Connie, a friend of 70 years and my brother-in-law Pete, who has known Patricia since 1976.
Alex did a wonderful job scanning photographs that were put together in a Visual Tribute with a musical version of Memories playing in the background.
It included her parents marriage in Cairo towards the end of WW2, her childhood years, our marriage and more recent photos. Many of the photographs included long time friends who attended the service.
Patricia was cremated in North Oxfordshire Crematorium on the 26th June 2026 I cannot fault Peter Smith and Son in any way. I am sure Patricia would have enjoyed her farewell.
Many many thanks for your kind and professional service for my father last Monday. I cannot praise Alex highly enough: he was calm and dignified and approachable, and he performed his duties immaculately. We were very impressed.
We cannot thank you enough for your guidance, kindness, and support in preparation and on the day for my dad’s funeral.
You helped make a difficult day much easier to bear.
I wanted to thank you for the very efficient and kind way you organised the burial service for Gordon. It was so very helpful to be able to leave all the details to you and to know that everything would happen on time as promised.
I would like to express my gratitude for the exceptional service provided by this funeral director and their team.
From the first contact, they showed compassion, professionalism and sensitivity. Every detail was handled with care giving us confidence that we were in good hands. What stood out was their kindness and empathy. They made a challenging situation easier to navigate.
I would highly recommend their services and to anyone seeking a funeral director. Thank you for everything you did for our family.
